La ville de Nara est un centre de production pour textiles fins depuis les temps anciens, elle était connue à l’origine pour sa fabrication de tissus en coton et lin.
Shirayuki Fukin, était une industrie de fabrication de moustiquaire, Puis la grand-mère du créateur de la marque, commença à fabriquer des torchons en superposant des chutes de moustiquaires.
Ainsi, ces torchons étants efficaces elle les offrait autour d’elle, cela fut un succès. L’idée de la marque était née! En résultat de cette fabrication faite avec une attention portée particulièrement sur la matière et sa couture, a été créé un tissu qui absorbe l’eau, se défait rapidement de la poussière, et possède un doux toucher, ce qui ne se trouvait nulle part ailleurs.
En vue des caractéristiques du produit, qui permettent de maintenir une blancheur immaculée pendant une grande période, il fut baptisé “Shirayuki Fukin” (qui peux se traduire: le torchon blanc comme neige).
Il était notamment consacré à l’époussetage/essuyage du Temple Todaiji et du Grand Buddha de Nara chaque année.
